ERP: what exactly is it?

An Établissement Recevant du Public (ERP, building open to the public) is any building that receives outside visitors: customers, pupils, patients, users. ERPs are classified by type (activity) and by category (capacity), with increasing safety obligations, particularly regarding access and escape routes.
